How much is ski hire in Sauze d'Oulx?
It depends on the shop, the tier of equipment and how many days you need — so rather than a range that tells you nothing, here is one real, current price you can measure the others against.
That is one shop, one tier and one duration, and it is deliberately specific: the four shops do not all charge the same, and not every shop stocks every tier. Adding boots, moving up a tier, hiring a snowboard or taking a different number of days all change the figure, and 3Sixty's discount is 10% rather than 15%. Which Sauze d'Oulx hire shop should you book?
If you're staying in town, all three village shops are a walk apart and any of them will look after you — so pick on the practicalities rather than agonising over it.
- You're staying in the middle of townTake Sport 1 on the main square. It's the biggest stock of the four and it's the shortest walk to the Clotes chairlift, which is the lift you'll use most mornings.
- You've driven, or you're parkedSport 2 is on the square with the public parking, next to Queens bar. Same equipment, same 15%, and you can load the car at the door rather than carrying four sets of skis up a hill.
- You're on a snowboard3Sixty, without much argument. It's the only dedicated board shop in Sauze, the range is deeper, and a board and boot fit from someone who rides is worth more than the slightly larger discount you'd have had elsewhere.
- You're up at Sportinia, or you want your skis to stay on the mountainMaison Clataud Sportinia is at the top of the chairlift. No discount there, but no carrying either — and it's the shop that runs the ski storage.

Ski storage in Sauze d'Oulx
We work with Maison Clataud to offer overnight storage up at Sportinia, the mid-mountain hub at 2,000m, next to their rental shop. You leave your equipment there at the end of the day and ride the chairlift down with nothing to carry, then pick it back up at the top the following morning.

- Priced per person, per dayWith a better rate if you take it for the week. Add it when you book your hire, or book it on its own if you've brought your own equipment.
- Who it actually suitsAnyone staying up at Sportinia, and anyone who would rather not move equipment between the village and the mountain every day. If you're already hiring from the Sportinia shop it's the same counter, so collection and storage are one stop.
How booking your hire works
Four steps, and the only one that needs any thought is the first.
- Pick your shopUse the section above. Location first, then whether you're on skis or a board. If you're genuinely torn between the two Maison Clataud shops in town, take whichever is the shorter walk from where you're sleeping — the equipment is the same.
- Set your dates and choose your equipmentPut in the days you're skiing and pick a package per person, from a first-week ski through to something with a bit more bite. Add a helmet and, if you want it, storage. Sizes are taken at the same time so it's ready before you land.
- Pay a deposit now, not the lotYou pay a deposit online to hold the booking and the balance goes to the shop when you collect. That's how our direct arrangements work: the shop is paid at the point they hand you the equipment, so there's nothing sitting in the middle.
- Collect and goShow your confirmation at the counter. Go the afternoon or evening before you ski if your travel day allows — morning one becomes clipping in and going rather than queueing while the light is good.
When it's worth bringing your own
Hire isn't automatically the right answer, and we'd rather say so here than have you work it out on the second morning. Roughly: bring the things that are fitted to you, hire the things that are fitted to the conditions.
- Boots — bring them if you own themThis is the one piece worth owning if you ski more than a week or so a year. A boot moulded to your foot beats anything off a hire shelf, and it's the single biggest difference between a good week and a painful one. They also pack smaller than people expect. If you own boots, bring them and hire skis only.
- Skis — usually leave them at homeUnless you're particular about a specific ski, hiring here is the better deal: you get something matched to the week's conditions, it's serviced before you pick it up, and you're not paying an airline to carry a ski bag or hauling one through a transfer. Hiring also lets you try a tier up without committing to owning it.
- Helmet — bring it if you have oneIt's a legal requirement in Italy at every age, so you need one either way. If you already own a CE-certified helmet it packs around your boots and saves you the hire. If you don't, add one when you book — it costs very little and you can't ski without it.
- Socks and insoles — always yoursProper ski socks and, if you use them, your own footbeds. Neither is hired anywhere, both take up no room, and between them they fix most of the fit complaints people take back to a shop on day two.

- Say something on day one if a boot is wrongPeople suffer a bad boot all week rather than make a fuss. Take them back and ask to be refitted — every one of these shops would far rather sort it on Monday morning than hear about it as you hand everything back on Friday.
- Nudge up one tier if you're past your first weekSauze's own side is red after red through the larches, and a better ski holds an edge on those where a basic one skates. It's usually a euro or two a day, and the discount tends to cover most of the difference on its own.
- Time your collection around SundaySunday is changeover day here for the UK tour operators, so the shops are at their busiest late on Sunday afternoon when everyone lands at once. Get in before about four if you can, or leave it until Monday morning if you're not on the first lift, and you'll have a fitter's full attention rather than a queue behind you.

Where can I hire skis in Sauze d'Oulx?
We work with four shops. Three are in the village — Maison Clataud Sport 1 on the main square, Maison Clataud Sport 2 by the public parking next to Queens bar, and 3Sixty on Via Miramonti — and the fourth, Maison Clataud Sportinia, is up at the top of the Sportinia chairlift on the mountain. Book any of them through this page and your equipment is reserved in your sizes before you arrive.
How much do I save booking through Monsguide?
You save 15% at both Maison Clataud shops in town and 10% at 3Sixty. There is no discount at Maison Clataud Sportinia — demand up there is high and availability is tight, so the shop prices it straight. The saving is applied to the price you see when you book; there is no code to enter.
How much is ski hire in Sauze d'Oulx?
It depends on the shop, the tier and the number of days, and the four shops do not all charge the same. As one current example: six days of adult skis at Maison Clataud Sport 1, Bronze tier and skis only, is €86.00 at the shop's own counter and €73.10 booked through us, with a €18.28 deposit now and the balance paid in the shop on collection. Prices are confirmed for the 2026/27 season and were checked in August 2026. Adding boots, moving up a tier or hiring a snowboard changes the figure, and each shop's own page carries its full price list.
Do I pay the full amount when I book?
No. You pay a deposit online to secure the booking and the balance goes directly to the shop when you collect your equipment. It is deliberately set up that way — the shop is paid at the point it hands you the skis, so nothing sits in the middle between you and them.
Which shop should I collect from?
Pick on location first. If you are staying in the middle of the village take Sport 1, which is closest to the Clotes chairlift. If you have driven, Sport 2 sits on the square with the public parking so you can load the car at the door. Snowboarders should go to 3Sixty. And if you are staying at Sportinia, or want to leave your equipment on the mountain overnight, book the Sportinia shop.
Can I hire a snowboard in Sauze d'Oulx?
Yes, and 3Sixty is the shop to do it at. Lorenzo and Nik have run it since 1997 and it is the only place in Sauze that specialises in boards rather than treating them as a sideline, so both the range and the boot fitting are better. All four shops hire boards, but that is the one we would send a rider to.
Do I need a helmet to ski in Italy?
Yes. Since the 2025/26 season Italian law has required a CE-certified helmet on the pistes for everyone, at any age, and it applies in the snow parks and on the toboggan runs too. Skiing without one carries an on-the-spot fine and your lift pass can be suspended. Every shop on this page hires helmets, so the simplest thing is to add one when you book. Italy also requires third-party liability insurance on the slopes, so check whether your travel policy covers it.
What is the free Monsguide discount card?
It is our own card, added automatically to every equipment order — one per order, free. Can I leave my skis on the mountain overnight?
Yes. We offer ski storage at Maison Clataud Sportinia, at the top of the Sportinia chairlift beside Orso Bianco. You leave your equipment there at the end of the day and ride the lift down without carrying it, which in a village as steep as Sauze is worth more than it sounds. It can be added to a hire booking or booked on its own if you have brought your own skis.
Can I hire equipment for children?
Yes — all four shops carry junior packages, and the two Maison Clataud shops in town hold the deepest stock, which matters most if you are fitting several children at once. Book early for the school holiday weeks, when the popular sizes go first.
Can different people in my group use different shops?
Yes. You can put equipment from more than one shop in a single order — boards from 3Sixty and skis from Sport 1, for instance. You will get a separate confirmation email for each shop showing only that shop's equipment, and everyone collects from their own counter. It still counts as one order for the discount card.
Who am I actually booking with?

Should I bring my own boots to Sauze d'Oulx?
If you own boots, yes. A boot moulded to your own foot beats anything off a hire shelf and it is the biggest single difference between a comfortable week and a painful one. Hire the skis here instead. If you do bring your own, tell the shop when you collect so the bindings can be adjusted to them — it takes a couple of minutes at the counter and avoids a problem on the hill.
How far ahead should I book ski hire in Sauze d'Oulx?
As early as you can for Christmas, New Year and February half-term, when the mid-range packages go first in the common sizes. Outside those weeks a week or two ahead is usually plenty. Booking early also secures the shop you actually want rather than the one with stock left, which is the thing people regret.
