Après in Sestriere might not have the reputation of a wild party town, like it’s sister resort, Sauze d’Oulx, but if you know where to look, you can go from 3pm apres all the way through to 3am. Wednesday apres at Gargot Fashion Cafe (GFC) is legendary. Trade your €€s in for actual, plastic beer tokens and prepare for classic dancing-in-ski-boots to apres bangers on the piste, as the sunsets. For those who prefer their apres a little classier, there are plenty of smaller wine & cocktails bars, like Black Pepper, while Kovo’s brings the laidback, cool vibes until the early hours.

GFV (Gargote Fashion Cafè)
Après in Sestriere tends to make you think of GFC first. As we’ve already mentioned, GFC is the place to go if you want the classic après experience on the piste. You can expect dancing on tables, DJ sets, questionable eurotrash music, and I even once saw someone drink a beer from his own ski boot. GFC has the biggest party of the week on a Wednesday and it’s location, right at the bottom of the slopes, means you’ll get home in time for dinner, in one piece, even if you’ve downed far too many shots.
I.GLOO Sky Bar
If GFC sounds like your idea of apres hell, I.GLOO Sky Bar’s sun-kissed terrace, right at the bottom of the piste, next to drag lifts 26 & 27, plays to the cooler crowd. Here, the house beats start at 3pm. If you really want to push the boat out, you can hire out one of their ‘igloos’ for you & your group, order platters of oysters and bottle service and relax as the sun sets in style.
Spotti Bar
In the far corner of the town square is a firm local favourite. It’s got mountain modern vibes and a modern jazz soundtrack. There’s a cracking aperitivo and a decent little menu of panini and nibbly bits. Pair that with a massive gin menu and reasonably priced cocktails (around €8), and you can’t go wrong. Open 4pm-11:30pm, this is the place to have relaxed drinks before getting into bed before midnight.
Pinky Bar
Pinky Bar is open from 8am until 11pm. On the town square, the café-style bar is a great place to pick up a morning coffee, and the apres often gets pretty lively from 5pm.
Tabata Disco
Tucked away at the back of Sestriere town centre, Tabata is a firm favourite amongst the younger crowd. The dance floor is packed out almost every night of the week, with DJs playing anything from ‘Nostalgia 00s’ sets (anyone else feel old just thinking about it?!??) to Euro techno. If you end up here past midnight, don’t expect to get much skiing done the next day. Like their famous ‘Too Much’ club night, Tabata is often the place you end up drinking and dancing just a little bit ‘too much’.
Black Pepper
If you’re heading back out after dinner, Black Pepper is a great place to start. They usually open late, stay open til 3am, and have some dangerously delicious cocktails. They love a themed fancy dress night, but somehow manage to keep it pretty classy. A great, fun, atmosphere.
Kovo
I first discovered Kovo as a Sestriere seasonaire a good, few years ago. I liked the place then, and still think it’s great. It’s not trying to be classy, but it’s not a dive bar, either. It’s a place that doesn’t need to try hard to be cool. The burgers are great, the atmosphere is lively and you can easily end up staying here right through to 2am.
