Snowshoeing in Sestriere
From Sestriere, there are some great snow shoeing routes. From Borgata (out the back of Sestriere), there is a ‘balconata path’ that goes gently downhill. It offers beautiful views of the Rognosa and Banchetta mountains and some easy crossings of snow-covered streams in the middle of the woods. You can then return using the same route.
A slightly longer, more challenging route starts from behind the Sports Centre at the back of the town centre. The path winds anti-clockwise up the mountain, under the Fratieve gondola and through the forest. It’s a proper winter wonderland. There’s also the opportunity to go with a guide for the day, with add ons like a mountain meal, or a stop for a hot chocolate and piece of cake. For more info click here.
