In Sestriere, there is a dedicated emergency trauma center and medical facility to address urgent medical needs. In the event of a mountain emergency, your initial destination is likely to be the Sauze Trauma Centre, a private emergency clinic situated within the village.
Please be aware that treatment received at this facility comes with associated costs as it’s a private clinic. If, following the initial care, you are transferred to Susa Hospital or one of the hospitals in Turin, the expenses may be covered if you possess an EHIC card. It is advisable to confirm the specific details with your country’s healthcare providers for comprehensive information. You can add insurance onto your lift pass at a cost of around €3 per day. Doing so means you won’t have to pay any of the upfront costs associated with evacuation off the mountain or your initial visit to the trauma clinic.
Hospital
There are two potential hospitals that you could visit, depending on your situation. The hospital in Susa has better facilities and it’s therefore common for emergencies to be taken there.
