Overview

The Söll lift pass gives you access to one of Austria’s largest and best-connected ski areas — the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser–Brixental. With around 275km of pistes linking nine resorts including Ellmau, Scheffau, Hopfgarten and Brixen im Thale, it’s a vast, scenic playground that caters to every level of skier and snowboarder.

From gentle beginner slopes on the village-side lifts to long, cruising reds and wide open runs at the top of Hohe Salve, the terrain here is incredibly varied. The modern lift system makes it easy to explore the whole area, with fast gondolas, chairlifts and well-signed connections between each village. Snowmaking covers almost the entire region, so conditions are consistent throughout the season.

Söll itself sits in a beautiful, sunny position below the Hohe Salve peak — one of the most panoramic viewpoints in the Alps. You can ski a full circuit of the SkiWelt from here, or simply enjoy the mix of perfectly groomed pistes, cosy mountain huts and friendly local atmosphere.

Here’s how the SkiWelt ski area breaks down by ability:

Beginners – The nursery slopes near the village and gentle blues around Hochsöll are perfect for learning and building confidence.

Intermediates – Cruise between Söll, Ellmau and Brixen on wide, rolling red runs with stunning views and endless route options.

Advanced skiers and snowboarders – Take on the steep descents from Hohe Salve, venture off-piste, or try the SkiWelt Tour — a full-day challenge linking multiple valleys.

With its unbeatable variety, modern lift network and classic Austrian charm, Söll is the perfect base for exploring the SkiWelt — a ski area big enough to keep even the most seasoned skiers discovering new runs every day.

When you ski in Söll, you’ve got two main lift pass options — both great value, but each offering something a little different depending on how far you want to explore.

    1. SkiWelt Lift Pass
This is the main pass for the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser–Brixental — one of Austria’s largest linked ski areas, covering 275 km of pistes across nine resorts including Söll, Ellmau, Scheffau, Hopfgarten and Brixen im Thale. With this pass you can freely move between all connected villages, taking advantage of the fast lift network and endless cruising runs. It’s the perfect choice for most skiers and snowboarders who want to experience everything the SkiWelt has to offer without leaving the region.

    2. SuperSkiCard
The SuperSkiCard is a multi-resort upgrade that includes all of SkiWelt plus access to 21 other ski regions across Tyrol, Salzburg and parts of Styria and Upper Austria — more than 2,800 km of slopes in total. It’s ideal for those staying longer or planning to road-trip between ski areas, visiting places like Kitzbühel, Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Zell am See or the Ski Juwel area.

If you’re spending your entire holiday in Söll or the Wilder Kaiser area, the SkiWelt Pass is all you need. But if you like to explore beyond your home base or want maximum flexibility, the SuperSkiCard opens up a whole new level of adventure.

    Snow Parks

If you’re into freestyle skiing or snowboarding, the SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser–Brixental has something for everyone — from beginner-friendly fun parks to a full-sized freestyle playground with jumps, rails and creative lines. All of the parks are easily accessible from Söll via the lift network, making it simple to mix park laps with regular skiing throughout the day.

There are three main snow parks across the SkiWelt area:

The Mini Playground is a family-friendly fun park designed for beginners and young riders. It’s playful, welcoming, and perfect for anyone trying freestyle for the first time. The setup includes small, easy-to-handle features that are great for learning and for kids who want to join in on the fun. It’s all about relaxed progression and family enjoyment rather than big tricks — a great place to build confidence before moving on to bigger features.

The Kaiserpark in Ellmau is the next step up. This park offers a range of features for different ability levels, from mellow boxes and small jumps to more advanced rails and kickers. It’s a well-maintained, sunny park with a friendly atmosphere and a layout that makes it easy to flow from one feature to the next. Whether you’re starting to link tricks together or just want to have fun on something different, Kaiserpark is a great place to spend an afternoon.

Then there’s the BIG PLAYGROUND© Snowpark in Westendorf, the true freestyle hub of the SkiWelt. Located right at the Gampenkogel lift, it’s large, sunny and professionally shaped every day. The park features a Super-Cross Line (a snake run/banked slalom) that’s suitable for all levels, along with Jump and Jib Lines offering easy to intermediate features. There’s also an Easy Line for riders who want to take it slow and enjoy the flow without pushing limits. With its mix of creative lines, relaxed park lodge and regular music and events, the BIG PLAYGROUND is the beating heart of the SkiWelt freestyle scene.

Closer to home, Söll also has the Rep Viper boardercross — a fast, playful course that mixes turns, rollers and jumps for a high-energy ride that’s perfect for both skiers and snowboarders. It’s not just for pros; it’s a fun way to test your balance and speed with friends.

Whether you’re trying freestyle for the first time, chasing airtime, or just want a change of pace from the main slopes, the SkiWelt snow parks have you covered. From beginner-friendly fun zones to pro-level setups, everything is well maintained, easy to reach, and guaranteed to bring a smile to your face.

    Off-Piste

Source: © SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser - Brixental I Tim Marcour

If you like to explore beyond the marked pistes, Söll and the wider SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser–Brixental area offer some exciting opportunities for sidecountry and off-piste adventure — but always with the right preparation and awareness. The terrain here is varied and scenic, with open bowls, tree-lined routes and powder stashes to be found after fresh snowfall. It’s not a pure freeride destination like St. Anton or La Grave, but it’s perfect for those who want to mix a little exploration with on-piste skiing.

The area around the Hohe Salve offers some of the best off-piste potential in the SkiWelt. From the summit, you’ll find steep, north-facing slopes that hold good snow after a storm and offer long, satisfying descents back towards Hochsöll and Itter. The terrain between the marked pistes in this zone gives you room to make fresh tracks without venturing too far from the safety of the lifts. When conditions are right, these slopes can deliver great powder runs early in the day before the sun softens the snow.

Further afield, the Westendorf side of the SkiWelt is popular with more experienced riders looking for natural terrain. The upper sections around Fleiding and Gampenkogel often have ungroomed, open areas and ski routes where you can test your legs in deeper snow. Westendorf is considered the freeride hotspot of the SkiWelt and makes an easy day trip from Söll, with several marked “ski routes” that are patrolled but left in natural condition.

The Scheffau area is another good option for a bit of off-piste adventure, especially around the Brandstadl and Eiberg lifts, where there are gentle off-piste sections between the runs. These are ideal for intermediate skiers wanting to practice powder turns in a controlled environment.

If you plan to explore off-piste, always check the avalanche bulletin before heading out, and carry essential safety gear — a transceiver, shovel and probe at minimum. It’s strongly recommended to ski with a qualified local guide who knows the snowpack and terrain. Even within the SkiWelt boundaries, conditions can change rapidly, and knowing where and when to go makes all the difference.

Stick to clearly marked ski routes where possible, tell someone your plan before heading out, and never ski off-piste alone. Most importantly, know your limits — the aim is to enjoy the feeling of freedom and adventure safely.

Söll and the SkiWelt offer the perfect balance for freeride-curious skiers: easily accessible lift-served terrain, plenty of space to explore, and a strong safety infrastructure. It’s the ideal place to discover the thrill of off-piste skiing in a way that feels adventurous but still manageable.
