About Maison Clataud Sport 1
Maison Clataud sits in the main square, a few minutes' walk from the Clotes chairlift — and it is the only hire operation in Sauze that also has a shop waiting for you at the top of the mountain.
The fitting is where they earn their reputation. They take the time to get the boot right rather than handing over the nearest size, and they'll set your skis or board up properly for how you actually ski. If something isn't right once you're on the snow, they're open every day to sort it — and because there's a second Maison Clataud shop at Sportinia, a problem at 11am doesn't have to cost you the walk back into town.
They also do something most shops don't: the boot is a separate choice from the ski. Take the standard fit, or step up to the top boot for the week — and because a bad boot ruins a holiday far faster than an average ski, it's the upgrade worth thinking about.

Which boot should I choose?
This is the question worth spending a minute on, because Maison Clataud let you pick the boot separately from the ski. Standard boots are softer and more forgiving, and they're the right call for a first week or two on snow. The top boot is stiffer and holds your foot more precisely, which means less shin bang, fewer heel lifts and far less of the mid-week soreness that ruins the last two days. If you ski more than a few days a year, or you've ever finished a morning wanting your boots off, take the step up — it costs a few euros a day and it's the single change most people notice most. Not sure? Say so at the counter and they'll fit you in both.
Which ski or board level should I choose?
Bronze skis are soft and easy to turn — a sound choice for your first days on snow. Silver is the one most people are happiest on: newer, grippier and more stable underfoot, and across a week it's only a few euros more than Bronze. Gold is the top of the range, current-season kit for anyone who wants to push. Snowboards run two levels — Silver for learning and linking turns, Gold for riders who want more edge hold and pop. If you get it wrong, the shop will swap you over.
When do I collect my equipment?
From 4pm the day before your first ski day, so you're ready for first lifts in the morning. Bring your booking confirmation to Maison Clataud Sport 1 on Piazza Assietta, in the main square.
How does payment work?
You pay a deposit online now to secure your booking, and the balance directly in the shop when you collect. The 15% saving is already applied to the prices you see. Ski Away Day seats are the exception — those are paid in full when you book.
Do I need to give my height and boot size now?
No — sizing and fitting is done in the shop when you collect, so you get properly set up in person. Just book the level, the boot, the duration and any extras.
Is there kit for children?
Yes — junior skis and junior snowboards, for children aged 3 to 12 at the time of rental, with their own junior boots. If your child is within that age range but needs a larger boot than the junior range runs to, the shop will simply fit them a bigger one at the counter; you still pay the junior price.
Do I need a helmet?
Yes. Helmets are a legal requirement on Italian slopes for all skiers and snowboarders, whatever your age — so add one to your booking unless you're bringing your own. Anyone found without one risks a fine and can have their lift pass withdrawn.
How long can I hire for?
Up to 14 days online. Longer than that, or dates that fall outside the booking window shown above the date picker, and it's quicker to get in touch — we'll arrange it with the shop directly.
What's your cancellation policy?
Free cancellation with a 100% refund up to 24 hours before the start of your rental, in case your plans change.
