About Ski School Sportinia — Monsguide’s Exclusive Partner

Like the name suggests, Ski School Sportinia is at the top of the Sportinia ski lift in Sauze d’Oulx, on the mountain plateau at 2,000 meters. Just a couple of metres from the ski school meet point you’ll find the nursery slope and practice area, so it’s perfect for beginners. And for the intermediate & advanced snowboarders & skiers it’s great because the meet point provides immediate access to rest of the Via Lattea.

The Sportinia plateau has some of our favourite bars & restaurants. So whether you’re dropping the children off, or joining ski school yourself, it’s the perfect location to all meet back up at the end of the day.

Founded by passionate local instructors, Ski School Sportinia has earned a reputation for quality teaching, personal service, and fun, confidence-building lessons. All instructors are certified by the Italian Ski Federation (FISI) and speak English, so it’s ideal for both adults & kids booking through Monsguide. We still take lessons each season, and personally recommend them.

What Makes Ski School Sportinia Stand Out?

1. Learn Directly on the Mountain

Forget waiting around in the village. Lessons begin right on the slopes at the Sportinia Plateau. You’ll start right in the heart of the Sauze d’Oulx ski area, enjoying breathtaking alpine views and a variety of beginner-friendly runs perfect for building confidence.

2. Small Class Sizes

Group lessons are intentionally small, ensuring you get individual attention. This personal approach helps every snowboarder & skier progress faster while still enjoying the social side of learning.

3. Certified, English-Speaking Instructors

Ski School Sportinia’s instructors are fully qualified and experienced in teaching all levels. They speak English, making communication easy and lessons enjoyable for international guests. None of that ‘ALLEZ ALLEZ’ of French ski schools. These instructors can give you personal, clear advice and suggestions so you improve rapidly, and don’t need to worry about leaving the kids.

4. Tailored Lessons for Every Level

From kids learning their very first snow plough, to seasoned skiers perfecting advanced carving, each lesson is tailored to suit ability, pace, and goals. I take private one-to-one snowboard lessons each season and I’ve seen major improvements in my technique after just a couple of hours.

Children’s Group Snowboard & Ski Lessons

Ski School Sportinia is especially loved by families. The children’s classes are designed to make learning safe, enjoyable, and full of energy. Kids learn balance, coordination, and basic skiing through games and small challenges. They’ll be paired with other children who match their age & ability and will be in safe hands while you spend the morning exploring the Via Lattea.

Again, these are morning classes that run until lunchtime.

Snowboard Lessons

This one needs a special mention, because we take snowboard lessons ourselves. The instructors are absolutely brilliant, and with group and private lessons some of the best priced in Europe, it’s well worth spending at least a couple of hours polishing your technique (back foot steering, anyone?!?)

How to Choose the Right Ski Lesson for You

Beginners: Build Confidence Safely

If it’s your first time skiing, we recommend taking 5 or 6 days of group lessons starting on the first day of your holiday. You’ll start out on the nursery slopes and spend the morning with your instructor. You’ll be knackered for the first couple of days, but once your legs warm up, you can practise on your own in the afternoons & by the end of the week you’ll be exploring the whole Sauze d’Oulx ski area. Instructors will teach you how to ski or snowboard, how to turn and most importantly, how to stop!

Intermediate Snowboarders & Skiers: Improve Technique

Already comfortable on blue runs? Intermediate courses focus on carving, pole planting, and controlled speed so you can explore more of the Via Lattea ski area. Private lessons are more expensive, but if you just want to focus on a couple of areas, they’re incredible for improving rapidly. If you prefer the more social side of skiing and like the atmosphere and learning environment of a group, we offer flexible group packages, too.

Advanced Snowboarders & Skiers: Private Lessons for Performance Perfection

Advanced private lessons focus on exactly what you need. Whether it’s poor posture or technique, park skills or carving drills, your instructor will work with you to polish your skills & push you to improve. Taking a private lesson at the start of your holiday gives you the added bonus of a super knowledgeable guide to the area. They’ll tell you the best spots to ski in the Via Lattea for your level & needs.

At the top of Sportinia you’ll find plenty of bars & restaurants, fo whether you want to relax in sky or dance on tables in your ski boots at après, you’ll find something for everyone.
